This recipe is a take on the classic Italian sausage, pepper, and onion sandwich. Replacing the peppers and onions with Hoboken Heat Onions is a great way to keep the sandwich simple while generating a more intense and flavorful experience.
Ingredients:
1 Italian Sweet Sausage
1 6" Italian Sub Roll
2 Slices of Provolone Cheese
1/4 Cup of Hoboken Heat Onions - Julienned
Basil (Preferably Fresh)
Grated Pecorino-Romano Cheese (To Taste)
Hoboken Heat (To Taste)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Steps:
Place Sausage on Top Rack of Preheated Grill (375°F)
Cook for ~30-40 minutes turning and basting with Hoboken Heat every 10 minutes
Toast Bread with drizzle of Olive Oil, the two slices of cheese, and Pecorino-Romano on top rack of grill
Place cooked sausage on toasted roll and top with heated Onions, Basil, extra Pecorino-Romano and Hoboken Heat
